WW2 tour – Gustav Line explained

2.5 Hours
icon
Let us take you around the battlefields and historical towns that made up the Gustav Line. Conceived
and constructed from plans drawn up by Field Marshall Kesselring it was hoped to stop the Allied
advance. The Allies had landed in Sicily some months before and met very little resistance from
Italian forces. Once Italy surrendered in September the Germans dug in across the width of the
country, from Ortona in the east across and past Monte Cassino in the west.
We will also visit The Gran Sasso where Mussolini has kept before being rescued by a small force of
German paratroopers before being flown out. There is much to discover in the region and experts
will be on hand to add their knowledge to make this tour special.
